CALL FOR PAPERS
10th Annual High
Plains Conference
October 4-6, 2006
Dodge City, Kansas
The 10th Annual High Plains Conference is to be held at Dodge City, Kansas on October 4-6, 2006. The conference will be sponsored by a joint session of the High Plains Chapter of the American Meteorological Society and the High Plains Chapter of the National Weather Association.
The conference theme, High Plains Severe Storms, will focus on
events ranging from severe thunderstorms and tornadoes, to drought,
dust storms, flash flooding, and winter weather. Topics from both the
research and the operational communities are welcome. Each session in
the conference will be opened with an invited speaker, with remaining
speakers each receiving 20 minutes for their presentations and any
questions. Aside from oral presentations, this year's conference will
also feature a poster session. This conference is intended to be
less formal than national
conferences, so those who are presenting for the first time and those
whose work that has not yet gone through the academic peer review
process are welcome to participate.
The High Plains Chapter is again proud to sponsor a student competition. Students are encouraged to submit abstracts for presentation on all topics in meteorology. This year competition entries will be separated into undergraduate and graduate divisions. Scholarship amounts have yet to receive a final determination, but tentatively first place winners in each division will be awarded $500. Students should contact the Tenth High Plains Conference Committee for information.
Please note that the deadline
for abstract submissions has passed.
